Roy McCall Jr.

Roy W. McCall Jr., 76, of Texas City, passed away Thursday November 6, 2014 at Gulf Health Care Center in Texas City. He was born December 17, 1937 in Bastrop, Louisiana to Roy W. McCall Sr. and Estelle McCall.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday November 8, 2014 at the Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock. Visitation will be held on Friday November 7, 2014 from 6-8:00 pm at Emken-Linton Funeral Home.

He attended Stephen F. Austin State College after graduation from Texas City High School in 1957. Roy spent most of his life in Texas City except for the 6 years in which he lived in New Orleans. There he met and married his wife of 48 years Susanna. He retired from Monsanto/Sterling Chemicals in 1999 after 29 years of employment. He is also a lifetime member of the N.R.A, becoming a member in 1980. His main hobby, out of many, was making custom knives since the 70’s.

Roy was a runner who ran in 15 Marathons all over the US including New York City, Boston, Houston, Dallas, San Francisco, New Orleans and his last in Paris, France at the age of 62. He also biked long distance races all over Texas including the MS150 ride from Houston to Austin 10 years in a row. In retirement he re-enrolled in college to earn credits at College of the Mainland and the University of Houston Clear Lake taking Biology and Geography. Roy was a member of First Baptist Church of Texas City for close to 70 years.

He is survived by his wife Susanna McCall, son Garrett McCall, daughter Susanna Martinez, son-in-law Matthew Martinez, grandson Kameron McCall, and sister Patricia McCall of Texas City, Texas.
