He was born in the town of Sandy Creek and has lived here the most of his life in and around the area with the exceptions of a few years he spent in Minnesota, Illinois and Nebraska. He was the son of the late Jonathan and Cynthia Snyder one of the earliest settlers of the town. He is survived by a brother and two sisters, Crocker Snyder of Lacona, Mrs Jane Case of Pulaski and Mrs Chloe Knolin of Nebraska.
He was married to Sara J Harmon June 14, 1859 who still survives him. Four children were born to them. three sons and a daughter, William H Snyder of Sandy Creek, Charles M Snyder of Newby, Indian Territory, Stephen Snyder of Nebraska and Mrs Miram Chase of Nebraska. All were at the funeral except Stephen. He was laid to rest in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
