Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, March 2, 1932 Pulaski Democrat - Prominent Lacona Man Passes - George R. Blount, 67 - George R. Blount, head of the Blount Lumber Company of Lacona, died at his home in Sandy Creek shortly before 6 o'clock Saturday night. Mr. Blount developed pneumonia about two weeks ago, and his wife and daughter who were in Florida were summoned home, and following an emergency mastoid operation Friday, he failed to rally owing to his weakened condition. Mr. Blount was born November 25, 1864. For many years he has owned and managed large lumbering interests in the eastern end of the county. He served as president of the Lacona National Bank several years after its organization until about five years ago. He was a member of the Methodist church of Sandy Creek. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jessie Ackley Blount, three daughters, Miss S. Mildred Blount, St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. H. W. Parker, Sandy Creek, Mrs. Ralph Kieffer of Massena; two sons, Howard P. Blount, and H. Floyd Blount of Sandy Creek; a brother, A. T. Blount, of Lacona, and a sister, Mrs. A. G. Smith of Spokane Wash. Another sister, Miss Sarah Blount, died about a month ago. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the church with burial in Sandy Creek cemetery.
