Newspaper Obituary - June 16, 1949 Sandy Creek News - Henry W. Beach Dies Suddenly at Home Saturday - Funeral services were held at the Sandy Creek Methodist church Wednesday afternoon for Henry Walter Beach, 51, a lifelong resident of this vicinity, who died very suddenly Saturday afternoon, June 11, 1949 at 3:30 as the result of coronary thrombosis. Mr. beach, who had appeared to be in his usual health, had been operating a power mower and was at work in the yard of his home on Fairground street. Not hearing the motor, Mrs. beach went to investigate and found him dead. It was theorized that he felt the attack coming on and shutting off the motor, lay down to rest, death occurring immediately. Mr. Beach was born in the Town of Boylston, June 22, 1898, his parent being Joseph Beach and Chloe Stone Beach. He attended school near his home, and at the age of 17 entered the employ of the Blount Lumber Company, where he had since worked. At the time of his death he was in charge of the manufacture of wood bathinette parts in the Bathinette division of the company. In business and fraternal as well as other personal contacts he enjoyed a reputation for reliability, fair dealings, and ability to get along with others, although of a retiring and unassuming nature which made him prefer to remain in the background - Surviving Relatives - He was married March 29, 1923 to Miss Lucille Peck, daughter of the late Clarence and Ada Hadley Peck of Sandy Creek, and they had since that time resided in Sandy Creek. Mr. Beach is survived by his wife; one sister, Mrs. Mabel McDougal of Lacona, and uncle, Russell Stone, and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Sandy Creek fire department and of Sandy Creek lodge No 564 F and A. M. A prayer service for the immediate family took place at the home at 1 o'clock Wednesday, with the funeral service following at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church. Rev. Herbert Harrison officiated at the service, and prayer was offered by Rev. Selden H. Ward, pastor of the Baptist church. Members of the Sandy Creek Fire Department and of the Masonic lodge attended in a body, and Masonic services were conducted at the conclusion of the regular order of service. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Bearers were Clarence Stafford, Lacona; Donald Alexander, Ilion; Floyd McDougal, Fulton; Donald McDougal, Glen Park; Glen McDougal, Lacona; Gerald McDougal of Canton and Henry McDougal of Rushville and Ronald Daly of Glenmont.
