*** James Barker - 1850 - November 21, 1922. Son of William and Ann Parkinson Barker Plot: R

Newspaper Obituary - November 23, 1922 Sandy Creek News - James Barker - The subject of this sketch died in Frankfort on Tuesday, November 21, 1922, at the age of 74 years. Mr. Barker had been in poor health for about a year and recently while at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rye Wells of Frankfort, he suffered a paralytic shock from which he never recovered. He came to this country from England when a tiny baby and has lived in Boylston ever since until the last few years. He owned a farm of about 300 acres in the north eastern part of that town, near the State road and conducted it on a paying basis. About five years ago he bought the Joseph Ward residence in Lacona and raised several kinds of berries and died extensive gardening. He married Cassie McDonald, who survives and to them were born three children, Mrs. Addie Stafford deceased, Mrs. Rye Wells of Frankfort and one son, Orin, who resides on the farm in Boylston. His remains were brought here on Tuesday night and the funeral services were held today at two o'clock from his late home. A brother, Pitt N. Barker of Sandy Creek and a sister, Mrs. William J. Sloane, of New York, also survive. Mr. Barker is a son of the late William and Anne Parkus Barker for years leading citizens of the town of Boylston. Seventy years ago William Barker came from England and settled on the Barker farm then in an unbroken forest, without roads. During his life he cleared the timber and made it one of the best farms thereabouts.
