Leonard Francis "Lenny" Brouillette (age 85) of Crown Point peacefully died of heart disease, in Merrillville on November 11, 2014.

Leonard was born May 31, 1929 in rural Benton County, near Fowler, Indiana to Arthur Anthony Brouillette and Helen Cecilia (Minneman) Brouillette. Leonard married Ellen Jean Dieter in Kentland, Indiana on February 7, 1959. She survives.

Leonard is also survived by two daughters, Teresa L. Brouillette and Helen Wood and three grandchildren, Jennifer Wood, Charlie Wood and Megan Wade.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother Ralph Edward Brouillette; stepmother, Antoinette (Fortin LaReau) Brouillette and stepbrother, Lionel Y. LaReau.

He attended Sacred Heart grade school in Fowler and was a member of the 1947 class of high school graduates from Pine Township School. He served two separate tours of duty in the military, first entering the US Navy in 1949. He was initially stationed in San Diego where he completed training to become a Dental Technician. He served in that capacity at the naval base on Guam as well as other naval bases in California and Washington State during his four year tour.

For the past twenty-three years Leonard was retired from his more-than-four-decade career as a Master Watchmaker and Certified Gemologist. He and wife Ellen were co-owners of Mott's Jewelry store in Crown Point from 1970 to 1991, and L. F. Brouillette Jewelry in Delphi, Indiana from 1960 to 1970. In 1954 Leonard graduated as a member of one of the last classes to matriculate through Elgin Watchmakers College in Elgin, Illinois. For the duration of his career, he was a member of the Indiana Chapter of the Watchmakers Association of America.
