Mr. Wolverton was a native of Orange and lived in Modesto five years.
He was a music teacher for 35 years, and was a member of the Modesto Music Teachers Association.
He was a graduate of San Francisco State University.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Modesto 1st Ward.
He enjoyed rebuilding classic Datsun 240z's and collecting movies.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Kernen-Wolverton of Modesto; stepchildren, Matthew Kernen of Davis and Debbie Ann Nadler of Gilbert, Ariz.; brother, Richard Wolverton of Conrad, Mont.; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dale Road Chapel.
