He was born March 31, 1919, in Winona County to Clarence and Mabel (Northrup) Lockwood. He married Zella Pauline Peterson November 22, 1949, in Sisseton, SD.
Vern delivered milk in the Brainerd area for many years and was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Gideon's and Bethany Good Samaritan Auxiliary.
He was preceded in death by his wife Zella Pauline; brother Arden; sister and brother-in-law Thelma and Orville Speed; parents; and special friend Dr. Marilyn Koering.
