Noel began his Hollywood career around 1912 as an actor on the silent screen. In 1917 Noel was a Motion Picture Director at LKO Company,on Sunset Blvd. In 1919 he directed Jimmy Aubrey (and Oliver Hardy) in Vitagraph comedies.

During the 1920's Noel directed many "canine adventures" featuring the German shepherds; Rin-Tin-Tin, Klondike and Silverstreak.

In the 1930's Noel worked for Warner and directed five western movies featuring Dick Foran, the "Singing Cowboy". Those films were: TRAILIN' WEST (Warners, 1936), CALIFORNIA MAIL (Warners, 1936), GUNS OF THE PECOS (Warners, 1937), CHEROKEE STRIP (Warners, 1937) and BLAZING SIXES (Warners, 1937).

In the 1940's he directed SECRET SERVICE OF THE AIR (Warners, 1939) and CODE OF THE SECRET SERVICE (Warners, 1939), both of which starred former President Ronald Reagan (portraying "Lieutenant 'Brass' Bancroft").

Noel was one of the early actors, writes and directors when Hollywood was young. He went from silent screen to talkies.

Noel married in 1917 silent screen comedian Louise Fazenda. The marriage lasted until abt 1926. They had no children. In about 1930, Noel married Adeline Paulson. Noel and Addie also had no children. Addie died in Dec 1952, and Noel a few years later. The cause of death - Biliary Cirrhosis. He died at Motion Picture Country Home, 23430 Ventura Blvd., Los Angeles. He was cremated September 24 1955, funeral director - Pierce Brothers, Valhalla, Cemetery or Crematory was Chapel of the Pines.
