Marcia L. Scott, 67, of Kentland, died at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at Home Hospital in Lafayette.

Born May 26, 1939 to the late J. Truman and Iris Davis Sell in Jasper County, she was a 1957 graduate of Brook high school and received her bachelor's degree in 1961 from Indiana State University.

Her marriage was to Ronald L. Scott on June 17, 1962, in Brook, and he survives.

Mrs. Scott worked in the Newton County Courthouse, was a county councilperson and served as the Newton County auditor from 1994 to 2002. She had also worked at the Edward J. Funk Seed Corn Co. in the accounting department and doing office work for 12 years.

She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Kentland Rotary, the Newton Jasper Community Band and the Newton County Republican Party. She was president of the Newton County Gideon's Auxiliary and the M&M's Extension Homemakers, treasurer of the Newton County Adult Education program and was a church organist and pianist. She received her Master's Pin from the Association of Indiana Counties and was set to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mrs. Scott enjoyed crocheting and music.

Surviving with her husband are four daughters, Carolyn Lemke (husband: Michael) of Plainfield, Ill., Nancy Studt (husband: David) of Noblesville, and twin daughters Marcella Cobleigh (husband: Jim) of Remington and Michelle Whiteman (husband: Jeff) of Lafayette; three sisters, Carole Unger (husband: Robert) of Harrisburg, Pa., Joy Stowers (husband: Manly) of Rensselaer and Carmen Kuebitz (husband: Hermann) of Poway, Calif.; a brother, James Sell (wife: Joanna) of Avon; and 11 grandchildren. Preceded in death by a grandson.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Brook United Methodist Church. Funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Kentland, Pastors Larry Klingler and Sue Spurlin officiating. Interment Riverside Cemetery in Brook.
