Obit: HUNT PIONEER DIES AT CLINTON; FUNERAL SUNDAY.
L. C. Smith, 73, pioneer resident of Hunt County, died at his home in the Clinton community Saturday night. Mr. Smith was well known throughout the county and was a highly respected and progressive citizen.
Final rites were observed at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at Clinton, with the Rev. Tom Beckham officiating. Burial was in the Clinton Cemetery.
Active pall bearers were: Roy Mosley, Lawrence Thomas, Walter Colemen, L. C. Martin, Newton Coleman and Blackburn Primm.
Mr. Smith was born on August 3, 1859 and had lived in the Clinton community practically all of his life. He was a conscientious Christian gentleman and had been a member of the Clinton Methodist Church since 1895. He served the Master faithfully and well, taking advantage of all opportunities to render aid in behalf of Christianity. He was a progressive citizen and had hundreds of friends who will regret to learn of this death and will join the bereaved in their sorrow over his passing.
Surviving are his widow, four children and a brother.

L. C. Smith Buried Sunday. PIONEER HUNT COUNTY MAN BURIED AT CLINTON SUNDAY. Funeral services for L. C. Smith, 73, pioneer Hunt County resident who died at his home in the Clinton community Saturday night, were held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Clinton. Services were conducted by Rev. Tom Beckham, with burial following in the Clinton cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born on August 3, 1859 and lived in the Clinton community practically all his life. He was a devout Christian gentleman, having been a member of the Clinton Methodist Church since 1859 (sic) and active in the religious activities of his community. He was one of the most prominent and progressive citizens of that section of Hunt County.
He is survived by his widow, four children and a brother".
