HAMPTON - Eloise H. Carter, age 102, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 at the Gardens at Warwick Forest, Newport News.

Born in Geneva, N.Y., to Herman and Josephine Kenney, Eloise was raised in a family of 11 brothers and one sister. Eloise married the late Angress Carter in 1934, and they became residents of Hampton in 1941, where they raised five children. She was a longtime member of St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Joanne Moore; nine brothers; and one sister.

Left to cherish her memory are her 2 brothers; 2 daughters; 2 sons, 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church.
