After graduating from nursing school, she joined the Navy during the Korean War. While stationed in Coronado, CA she met her future husband, Harry Peters. Marion and Harry moved from Long Island to Mystic, CT in 1965. When Lawrence & Memorial hospital opened their first satellite emergency care unit, Pequot Health Center, Marion worked as one of its first staff nurses and had many years of diligent service. They moved to Falmouth in 1978. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry, in 2001.
Marion is survived by her four daughters: Maureen Foster of Falmouth; Karen Goetchius of Gales Ferry, CT; Elizabeth Peters of Falmouth; and Mary Ellen Ellis of Mashpee; and her brother Michael Kelly of Winnipesauke, NH. She was predeceased by her brother, William Kelly. Marion has eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 15 at St. Anthony Church, 167 East Falmouth Hwy, East Falmouth. Burial will follow in the St. Anthony Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marion’s name to the St. Anthony Church Food Pantry.
