Nancy Ann Morehead married Robert Nickell in Greenbrier, VA, 26 Jul 1820. Together they had seven children who lived to adulthood:

2. Robert Calvary, b. 1826; d. 1892; m. 1898, Susanah Vanderford.
3. Andrew Jackson, b. 1828; d. 1863; m. 1856, Isabel "Bell" Ramey.
4. Margaret Jane, b. 1832; m. 1854, James Harden.
5. Ann Eliza, b. 1834; d. 1910; m. David Collins.
6. James M., b. 1836; d. 1919.
7. Martha Mary, b. 1842; d. 1910; m. 1865, Thomas Wilson.
Nancy and Robert Nickell lived on 120 acres of land in Elk Township, Vinton County, about 2 1/2 miles northeast of McArthur.
During Army training at Camp Marietta, OH, son Andrew returned in his uniform to visit his mother. Nancy Ann's husband / Andrew's father, Robert Nickell, was a southern sympathizer, who told Andrew, "Nobody in a Yankee blue uniform is coming into my house." Nancy Ann appealed to her husband, and he finally compromised. Andrew was allowed to talk with his mother, Nancy Ann, with the condition that he was gone before sunrise. They talked through the night, and that was the last time they would see each other.
Nancy must be buried in Elk Township, Vinton County, OH but to date, her burial location has not been found. After Nancy Ann's death, her husband left the farm to eldest son, John Francis. Then he removed to Madison County, IA with his daughter Martha Wilson and her husband.
