David married the first time to Mary Cartmell; a daughter of John Cartmell and his wife, Christina Fry(e). David and Mary celebrated their wedding on April 15, 1828 in Coschocton County, Ohio. They had six children; two sons, two daughters and two unnamed stillborns. Mary passed away in 1839. David married a second time to a woman named Isabella. She passed away due to milk fever on April 11, 1844.
