David was one of seven known children born to David William Bookless and his wife, (?) Perry. David married the first time to Mary Cartmell; a daughter of John Cartmell and his wife, Christina Fry(e). David and Mary celebrated their wedding on April 15, 1828 in Coschocton County, Ohio. They had six children; two sons, two daughters and two unnamed stillborns. Mary passed away in 1839. David married a second time to a woman named Isabella. She passed away due to milk fever on April 11, 1844.

BURIAL RECORDS: Bookless Cemetery; take US 52 to Iroquois (Iroquois County), Illinois, turn at first right CR (county road) 212ON/228OE, go for approximately 2 miles to CR 201ON/271OE, cemetery is on the right under a pine tree in the field. Older family members and family Bible records state David was buried here.
