Loretta Owen, 97, of Asher, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Tecumseh.

She was born September 25, 1917 in Cleveland County near Norman, Oklahoma. Loretta grew up in the Norman and Washington areas and attended school in Washington.

She married Hal Owen on October 22, 1938 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1996. They lived in the Asher area their entire married life, while raising cattle and farming. Together they began a dairy farm operation in 1946 where Loretta was a full participant in the family dairy.

She was a long time member of the Pearson Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday school and serving on various committees. Loretta enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting and crocheting. She loved cooking for her family and friends, especially at holidays, always making sure she had prepared everyone’s favorite dish. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her great-grandson, Corey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Owen; her parents, George and Lula Cable; brother, Leon Cable; sisters, Freda Wallace, Frankie Willingham, Jewel Stine and Lerlene Vanek.

Survivors include daughter, Reta and husband, Murl Bowen of Asher; granddaughter, Kimberly and husband, Ron Holman of Shawnee; great-grandson, Corey Holman of Shawnee; twin sister, Juanita Griggs of Purcell; and other extended family members and friends.
