Gene grew up in South Minneapolis, graduating from Roosevelt High School and MacPhail School of Music (BA, MA) and post-graduate work. Gene taught music in Mountain Iron, MN; Canton, SD; and St. Louis Park, MN. He was an All State Choral Director for two years. He directed church choirs at Canton Lutheran, Canton, SD; Wooddale Lutheran, Minneapolis, MN; and Church of the Good Shepherd, Minneapolis. MN. He and his wife have been faithful members of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Minneapolis, MN, for 45 years. The church has been a very important part of his entire life. Gene was a very gifted man in music, woodcarving, painting, and fishing. He lived each day to the fullest. Gene died peacefully at York Gardens, with his faithful wife by his side.
