Johnny N. Nelson of Nevada City, Nevada, died Thursday at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley after a lengthy illness.
A native of New Auburn, Wisconsin, Nelson 67, lived at Salinas, California, from 1946 until 1977. He moved to Nevada City in 1977.
Before he retired, he had worked as a carpenter for B&K Builders, Axel Carlson Co, and Salinas Steel Builders.
He served in the U.S.Army during WWII and had obtained the rank of Tech 5.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Franklin.
Survivors include his wife Marie D. Nelson, of the family home; two daughters, Sharon Coleman of Greenfield and Susan Kidd of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sons Larry Nelson and David Nelson, both of Salinas; three sisters, Sybil Moe and Esther Lampman, both of Chetek and Erma Witta.
