Mrs. E. Vander Brake Passes On

Tuesday afternoon, May 16, Mrs. Jaapje Vander Brake passed away at her home here after an illness of about twelve weeks.

Funeral services will be held Friday at the home at 1 p.m. and at 1:30 p.m. at the First Ref. Church with Rev. Meengs and Rev. Keuning officiating.

She was born Sept 14, 1861, was married to Evert Vander Brake on March 6, 1883.

Her husand preceded her in death in February, 1916.

Six children were born to this union, namely Gerrit, of Groton, S.D.; Effie (Mrs. H. Eggink); Mary, (Mrs. Peter Brunsting) of Hull; Bertha. (Mrs. Dick Schoep) and Jessie Campagne. Lane died eight years ago. Seventeen grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Vander Brake had been a resident of this community for the past twenty-four years.

She came to America from South Holland, Netherlands, at the age of fourteen years.

She was a member of a family of twenty-four, the only survivor now being one sister, Mrs. Herman Brink, who resides in Platte, S.D.
