BAUMAN, William Lawrence Jr., (Bill), 64, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2003 at his residence. He was predeceased by his father, William L. Bauman Sr. Bill retired after 32 years service from Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield. He was a 1960 graduate of VPI and a member of the Corps of Cadets. He was a member of North Roanoke Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. Active in the Lion's Club, he was a member in both the Northside and Villa Heights Clubs and held various offices on both the District and State level.Bill served on the Boards of the United Way, American Cancer Society, Roanoke Valley Speech and Hearing and the Mental Health Association.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Delores Conner Bauman; two daughters, Dana Horan and husband, Christopher and Debra Turner; two precious granddaughters, Kara and Marla and their father, Bob Turner; mother, Vergie W. Bauman; sister, Patricia Sledd and husband, Mike; brother-in-law, Edsel Conner and wife, Doris; and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be appreciated, but those preferring memorials please consider North Roanoke Baptist Church Building Fund, American Cancer Society or Carilion Hospice Services. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2003 from North Roanoke Baptist Church. Dr. Darryl G. Crim will officiate with additional thoughts expressed by the Rev. Sandra J. Conner, inabsentia. Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family recieved friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's North Chapel.
