Paul 'Gus' Gustin

WALLA WALLA — Paul "Gus" Gustin, 76, of Pendleton died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla. Services will be conducted Monday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Pendleton.
Mr. Gustin was born Feb. 1, 1935, in Mars Hill, Maine, to Lewis Ambrose and Louise Ann (Sweeney) Gustin. His family moved to Portland when he was 12 years old. He served in the National Guard for two years at the end of the Korean Conflict.
He lived in Reno, Nev., and California before moving to Pendleton in the early 1980s. He married Linda Schuening-Thompson in Lake Tahoe, Nev., in 1989.
He was a master craftsman, installing swimming pools, covering pool tables and taking on other specialized tasks.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Gustin of Pendleton; sons Ronald Lewis Gustin of Portland and Michael Tim Gustin of Idyllwild, Calif.; daughter Sandra Louise Joens of Bend; four grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and four brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor's choice in care of Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-Bishop, 131 S.E. Byers Ave., Pendleton, OR 97801.
