Mrs. Bonnie L. Townsend 89 of Rochester passed away at 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at the Life Care Center of Rochester.

On July 26, 1925, in O'Dell, IL Bonnie Lea Stretch was born, the cherished daughter of Forrest C. and Clara E. Bowers Stretch. At the age of three she moved to Fulton County with her family. Growing up she shared her childhood with a brother and four sisters. With great pride she graduated from Rochester High School in 1944.

On February 24, 1945, Robert and Bonnie L. Stretch were married in Rochester. Together they enjoyed over 68 years of life's adventures. Over the years they raised two fine sons, Larry and Paul. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

In 1988 after 27 dedicated years of service to the Torin Corporation, Bonnie retired becoming a full time farmers wife. During her Torin years she was a member of the UAW #47. She was also a member of Rochester's First Baptist Church for many years. Bonnie enjoyed crafts, gardening, cooking and canning. To relax she enjoyed card games, especially euchre. For 18 years she and Bob lived near Lake Placid, FL.

Left to cherish Bonnie's memory are two sons: Larry G. Townsend & wife Sheri of Plymouth, and Paul D. Townsend & wife Melba of Roann; three granddaughters: Amy Blackburn & husband KJ, Robin Huffman & husband Vincent, Julie Hughes; two grandsons: Kris Fear & wife Lisa, and Kerry Fear; twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, beloved husband of 68 years Robert M. Townsend, a great grandson Griffin Huffman, four sisters: Lavonne Bailey, Willa Wagoner, Martha Carlson and Marilyn Stretch, and a brother, Louis William Stretch.

Dr. Mark Spencer will officiate services. Burial will follow in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery,
