---Betty J. Bosserd, age 91, of Marshall died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Bickford Cottage of Battle Creek.
---Mrs. Bosserd was born on December 20, 1922 in Marshall to John Sherman and Malinda Ellen (Houlton) Patton. She was a graduate of Marshall High School, class of 1940. Betty was a farmer's wife and kept very busy helping out with the daily chores. She had also worked with the Heidenreich's at their family dentistry practice.
---On June 2, 1940, she married Samuel G. Bosserd Sr. in Battle Creek. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2004.
---Betty was a member of the Modern Homemakers Extension for over 65 years and the Calhoun County Young Farmers Club. She established strong friendships throughout the community and enjoyed their company over many friendly games of cards. She enjoyed working in her well maintained gardens and spent many long hours canning and freezing the fruits of her labors.
---Following their retirement, Betty and Sam enjoyed wintering in Winter Haven, Florida. She was a strong Detroit Tiger's supporter and followed there successes whenever she was able. Betty also enjoyed playing bingo. Her family remembers her as a hard working woman that always had a cheerful spirit.
---She is survived by a son, Thomas (Mary) Bosserd of Plymouth, Michigan; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Audra Camera of Battle Creek; and many loving nieces and nephews.
---She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel; a daughter, Sharon VanSickle; a son, Samuel G. Bosserd Jr.; sisters, Helen Banks, Marian Owens, Mary Hiatt, Alice Hynes and Mildred Slaughter; and brothers, William, Orville, Melvin, Vernon and John Patton.
---The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Craig K. Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Marshall Chapel. A funeral service to celebrate the gift of her life will be held 1 PM Friday, October 31, 2014 at the funeral home with Reverend Patricia Bromberek officiating. Interment will follow in Oakridge Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers are Trevor Riever, Scott Riever, Jeffrey Bosserd, Mark Bosserd, Stephen Bosserd, Matthew Bosserd and Kent VanSickle.
----Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Grace Hospice Care, or Marengo Township Firefighters Association or the Marshall Fountain Clinic. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
