Helen Hall Padgett, 84, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Chesapeake, Va. on Friday,October 31, 2014. She was born in Reedy, W.Va. to the late Eura Jackson and Mattie Baker Hall. She was preceded in death by husband, Elmer Padgett, Jr.; brothers, Herbert Pauland Herbert Jackson Hall; and sister, Hazel Hall Hawk.Helen spent the majority of her life in the Valley, where she raised her family. All creatures great and small were dear to her. She was a very kind and loving soul and avid Virginia Tech fan. There wasn't much that she could not do if she set her mind to it. As a self taught seamstress, she landed a job making draperies for Joe Rotella and then Heironimus.She made the drapes for WDBJ on Towers Hill and the dining room in the Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach. She learned how to groom dogs from her show dog days. She then worked for Roanoke Animal and Salem Animal; which led her to start Padgett's Grooming 46 years ago. This is still in business today. After retiring she spent her time gardening, quilting, and water coloring.She is survived by children, Sherry Padgett Moore (Tony) Chesapeake, Va., Michael Steven (Penni), Deborah P. Flannagan (John Michael, Sr.) both of Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren, Tony Moore (Stephanie), Melissa M. Call (Tracy), Chris Padgett (Sunny), Adam Padgett, Anna Padgett, Hunter F. Johnston (Andy) and John M. Flannagan, Jr.; andfive great grandchildren;brothers, Harold Lee Hall (Leola), Henry Watson Hall (Doris), Howard Richard Hall, James Albert Hall (Laura); sister-in-law, Lois Hall; and Ex sister-in-law, Anne Hall Mcbane. Special thanks go to her daughter Sherry, who used her registered nursing skills to take care of Maw Maw these last two and a half years.Memorial Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church in Roanoke, VA. Donation can be made to your favorite charity.
