Sam was born in Youngstown, a son of the late Charles and Angelina Carissimi. He remained a lifelong Youngstown resident and advocate.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and worked for CCC Trucking Company for 30 years, retiring in the mid 1980s as a member of Teamsters Local No. 377.
Sam enjoyed watching action and western movies and dining out. He took great pleasure in doing home projects. In his own words, he was a “jack-of-all trades and a master of none.” Sam was an amazing father and husband who always put his family first.
Sam’s wife of nearly 53 years, Bridget Rogenski Carissimi, passed away in 2006. Two brothers, Vincent (died in World War II) and John Carissimi; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Rogenski and Benjamin (Elizabeth) Rogenski, also preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his son, Samuel Carissimi; his daughter, Sandra (Stephen) Bialik; brother Charles (JoAnn) Carissimi; sister-in-law Virginia (Ronald) Taffaria; and brother-in-law Martin (Barbara) Rogenski.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Sam will be laid to rest next to his wife.
