Karen was an active member of The First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. She was a 1960 graduate of Academy High School and used the skills she learned at the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in her work at Erie Insurance and General Electric, prior to starting her family. Karen enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing cards and games, golfing, dancing, and traveling.
Karen is survived by her husband of 49 years, David Edwin Briggs; two daughters, Deborah Lynn Briggs Loney (Michael) and Diane Elizabeth Briggs Sutton (Ron); one sister, Shirley Ann Haupt DeCarolis; one brother, Theodore John Haupt (Barbara); three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Interment, Laurel Hill Cemetery.
