Bobby served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947 stationed out of California and then returned to Harlingen where he joined SW Bell as a craftsman.
He climbed the corporate ladder and rose to management and retired after 38 years of service.
Bobby was an avid hunter and loved saltwater fishing, bowling, and baseball. He also enjoyed summer vacations, camping across America with his family, and was a history and mucic enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Gene Swanson Jr. in 1970.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jean Decker Swanson; his son, Daniel Thomas (Debbie) Swanson; his two daughters, Teresa Ann Swanson Henry and Rhonda Kay (Mrs. Tom) Fousek; and 7 grandchildren, Tracy, Travis, Sam, Ashley, Dave, Leslie, Kelly and their loving spouses; and four great-grandchildren, Tommy, Emma, Allie and Addi.
