Newspaper Obituary - August 24, 1922 Sandy Creek News - Charles Hallee Austin - Charles Hallet Austin died August 22, 1922, at his home on the State road about one mile north of Sandy Creek, where he has resided and carried on his farm since 1913 when he purchased the George Canough Property. He is survived by two daughters, Lottie M. Walton of South Euclid, Ohio and Fernie Gibbons, who resided with him and a son Albert J. Austin of Fleischmans, N.Y. Mr. Austin was the son of John and Maria Knox Austin and was born at South Edwards, N.Y. on July 13, 1855. He was twice married, first to Mrs. Catherine Carylon at Hermon, N.Y., December 25, 1878, who died at the same place April 14, 1907, survived by the two daughters and son already named above. In 1909 he married Emma Mix of Hermon, N.Y. who died April 24, 1921. Mr. Austin lived practically all his life at Hermon until he came to Sandy Creek in 1913. He was an honest, industrious, unassuming man and well liked by everyone who knew him. The funeral was held at the home this afternoon, Rev. T. T. Davies, officiating. Interment in Woodlawn cemetery.
