Miss Mary Howard was born in Torrent Co., Texas, January 28, 1875, and was married to Mr. Warren Dodson, June 10, 1891. She was the mother of six children, one boy and five girls, the boy died and was buried in Arkansas, June, 1903. Leaving to mourn her loss, her husband and five little girls, the oldest but 14 and the youngest not quite three years old.
Her hold on life was slight and that dread disease consumption soon broke, the "Silver Cord" and the tired heart ceased to beat. She told the writer she wanted to go where she could once more see the flowers bloom and feel the soft south winds blow. God took her at her wish and she is now in the Land of eternal summer. She died in her home No. 488, 9th Ave., Marion, Iowa, February 15th, 1910. Funeral services were conducted by Elder Warren C. Thompson. Interment Oak Shade cemetery.
