Vesta Viola Barmann, 84, St. Joseph, MO., passed away peacefully Thursday, November 6, 2014 at a St. Joseph hospital with her family by her side.
Vesta was born on May 15, 1930 in Amazonia, MO. and lived most of her life in St. Joseph. She attended Benton High School. Vesta married Gerald J. Barmann on March 28, 1951. She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Mrs. Barmann liked to draw and paint, enjoyed reading, watching movies, dancing and never knew a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald J. Barmann on June 14, 1980; her parents, Virgil A. and Elsie M. Spencer Guyer; five sisters, Lucille Cox, Temelia (Mickey) Gann, Beulah Spry, Thelma Ragland, and Pearl Moore; seven brothers, Russell, Jessie, Willard, Paul, Virgil, Clifford, and Norman Guyer; and longtime friend and companion, Don Oswald.
She will be sadly missed by her family; four sons, Greg Barmann, and wife, Jan, St. Joseph; William Barmann, and wife, Carol, Wake Forest, North Carolina; Kenny Barmann, Rea, MO; and Douglas Barmann, St. Joseph; four daughters, Julie Owsley, and husband, David, Savannah, MO., Teresa Crist, and husband, Joe, St. Joseph., Tina Barmann, and Sheila Barmann, St. Joseph.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: 1:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Parish Rosary 6:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
