Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 21, 1952 Pulaski Democrat - Sandy Pond Lady Dies In Hospital - Mrs. Myrtle Alexander, 65, wife of Robert Alexander, and a resident of Sandy Pond for the past 18 years, died Friday in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where she had been a patient five days. Funeral services were held from the Weston & Woodard funeral home in Sandy Creek, Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Winton Halstead, pastor of the Sandy Creek Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was made in Woodlawn cemetery. Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Malcom of Sandy Pond, William of Dexter, and Donald Alexander of Ilion; a daughter, Mrs. Luther Ridgeway of Rush; and a sister, Mrs. Grace Purseglove of Three Mile Bay and ten grandchildren. Another son, Hugh Alexander was killed July 19, 1944 while serving with the Army in France. Mrs. Alexander was born in Dexter, June 6, 1887, a daughter of Wallace and Emma Sprague Burlingame. Her early life was spent in Dexter and she attended schools there. She was married to Mr. Alexander Aug. 9, 1906 in Brownville. The couple moved to Sandy Pond in 1933. She was a member of the Presbyterian church of Dexter, the Lake Ontario Chapter O.E.S. of Sandy Creek, the Rebekahs of Dexter, the Gold Star Mothers and the auxilary to Cable Trail Post VFW.
