George was born very hard of hearing and had that disability all his life. At the age of about 12, George finished 8th grade and went to work in a textile mill, where he learned the trade of weaver. On July 16, 1917 George married Séverine (aka Rena) Roy, daughter of Henry Roy and Amanda Lafrenière, at Immaculate Conception church in Concord NH. They lived at 22 Crescent Street, Penacook Station, Concord NH. George worked for the Harris Amery Co. in Concord NH at the time. They had three children together: Lillian, Gloria and John. During World War II, George worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and lived with his family in Kittery, Maine from 1941 until 1947. After that they moved back to Penacook NH. In 1962 they moved to Hampton NH to be near Lillian and her family. George's last residence was in Mystic CT, where his daughter Gloria and her family lived. Grandson Dan Kenney recalled his grandfather fondly: "He was such an intelligent man and used to tell me so many wonderful stories about everything. Of all his grandchildren, I'm the one by far to have spent the most time with him and it was no secret that I was his favorite. I often think of him."
