Mrs. Lawrence was born in Ocilla, GA on July 03, 1922, daughter of the late Melvin Meeks and the late Vivian Bruce Meeks. She was a graduate from Tift College with a BA in Education, major in Latin and minor in Music. Mrs. Lawrence was a homemaker/teacher and a member of the Elberton First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a choir member, and a church musician as well as a member of the W.M.U. She was a member of the Garden Club, Girl Scout Leader, and an Auxiliary Gideon.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lawrence was preceded in death by her husband, Seaborn Evans Lawrence; brothers, George Meeks and Valjean Meeks; sisters, Christine Meeks, Melba Walker, and Martha Claire Gunn.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a brother-in-law.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lawrence will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at the Elberton First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Starr and Dr. Malcolm Herndon officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Elberton, GA.
The family will receive friends at the Elberton First Baptist Church Parlor from 2:30 p.m. until the funeral hour on Sunday afternoon. The service will begin at 3:30 in the sanctuary.
