Ruth Gore Banker, 85, of Elm City passed away Friday. A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Dr. Tom Watkins will officiate.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 1 – 2 p.m. at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home of Cindy Hamm.

Ruth, known as "Granny" to her family and friends, was a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina and a former member of First Presbyterian Church of Wilson. "Granny" was greatly loved and will be truly missed.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Karen B. Fleming and Mickey Felton of Wilson, Donna B. Webb and Michel Hamm of Bailey, Cindy B. Hamm and husband, Brad of Elm City and Summer B. Dorton and husband, Michael of Goose Creek, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Stacey Story, Dan Henderson, Allen Wheatley, Christopher Wheatley, Madison Barkley, Cameron Dorton and Kayleigh Dorton; her great-grandchildren, Jacob Story, Chandler Henderson, Alyssa Story, Kaelyn Emon, Elise Wheatley, Coleman Wheatley, Tripp Wheatley, Adeline Henderson and Emory Henderson; her sister, Cynthia Graham and her brothers, Royce Gore and Gene Gore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edgar Banker; her parents, William Frank Gore and Isabelle Soles Gore; her brother, Carl Gore and her sons-in-law, James Fleming and Wofford Webb.
