Edith Burgess, 97, of New Brighton, died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan 23, 1997, at her residence.
Born June 20, 1899 in Marchwiel, North Wales, a daughter of the late Alfred and Margaret Payton, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, New Brighton and the United Methodist Women and the Guild of the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Burgess, on Aug. 7, 1965; five brothers and 4 sisters.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Stanley and Peggy Burgess, Huntingdon, Pa. and Donald and June Burgess, Beaver Falls; three grandsons, Bruce Burgess, Huntintdon, Pa., Blaine and his wife Debbie Burgess, Beaver Falls, and Dr. Brian and his wife Terri Burgess, Wilmington, Del.; five great-grandchildren, Sarah, Jeff, Greg and Mark, all of Wilmington, Del., and Barney, Beaver Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 1033 Sixth Avenue, New Brighton. Her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Rodger R. Buzard, will officiate and the Rev. Dr. Franklin D. Hallman will assist.
The Donald D. Druschel Funeral Home, 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton, is in charge of arrangements.
