Terry Lee Byrd, 69 of Alexandria died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 at his residence after a sudden illness.

Terry was born in Anderson, Indiana on Aug. 27, 1945 and was the son of Percy and Janice (Kirkpatrick) Byrd. On March 1, 1970 he married Linda K. (Gaither) Byrd. Terry was a 1963 graduate of Summitville High School and attended Ivy Tech College.

Terry was retired from ABF Trucking as a teamster driver. After retired he held part-time jobs at Armstrong Hardware and currently at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts he had perversely been a member of the Alexandria Police Dept. for eight years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the United States Air Force and then with the Air Force Reserve.

He attended the Alexandria Nazarene Church and was a member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie 1771 of Alexandria.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 44 years, Linda, a son, Shane (Laura) Byrd of Alexandria, a daughter, Alina (Shawn) Snyder of Alexandria two brothers, Steve ( Anita) Byrd of Bowling Green, KY., Jerry Byrd of Summitville, a sister, Deb (Steve) Walters of Summitville. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Zack Byrd, Emma Byrd, Kaylee Snyder, Kiersten Snyder and Tanner Snyder.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Diane.
