“CANFIELD – Arthur Conrad Pfund, 88, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, at his home. He was born Dec. 3, 1920 in Youngstown, the son of the late Arthur and Mary Pfund. Art was a graduate of South High School and became a journeyman electrician thereafter. He worked for Carlson Electric many years and was a 65 year member of the IBEW union. As a member of the Canfield Methodist Church, Art enjoyed singing in the choir. Art had a great passion for the game of golf and was an avid fan of Youngstown State University and The Ohio State University football. Art served as president of the YMCA Golf League, and Curbstone Coaches. He was a member of the Youngstown District Golf Association and the Canfield Round Table as well. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret. Survivors include wife, Mary Jane; three sons, William (Sue) of Eaton, Colo., Thomas (Nancy) of Kensington and Kenneth of Columbus; sister, Nina Byrd of Hampton, Va.; stepchildren, Margaret Goff of Greenford, Lee (Gina) Stone of Liberty Township, William (Giselle) Stone of Marietta, Ga. and Susan (Tom) Haney of Canfield. Art leaves to cherish his memory, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, whom he dearly loved. There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, at the Canfield United Methodist Church. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Canfield United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.”
