Gene was devout in his Christian faith and a former member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Adoration Society St. Paul's Church, Troy, and a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Troy, and St. Jude Church in Tequesta.
Throughout his lifetime he was an avid golfer, ski patrolman and fisherman.
He also was a former toastmaster.
He was the devoted husband of Lureen Debonis Cardish for 20 years.
Gene was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years and the mother of his six children, Mary-Joan Boland Cardish.
