Thomas David Rushing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Rushing, was born in Montgomery County, Illinois, May 9, 1854, and departed this life in Osceola, Iowa, September 16, 1927, being at the time of his death 73 years, 4 months and 11 days of age.
He came to Iowa with his parents in 1867, settling in Clarke County, where he spent the most of his life. He was united in marriage to Lucinda Brummet, September 7, 1874. To this union were born sixteen children, seven of these preceding him in death. He united with the Oak Grove M.P. Church about 37 years ago, never transferring his letter.
He leaves to mourn his loss his faithful and loving wife, five sons and four daughters –
Oscar Rushing, Truro, Iowa; Lon Rushing, Omaha, Nebr.;
Walter Rushing, Denver Colo.' Warren Rushing, Omaha, Nebr.' Roy Rushing, Denver Colo.; Mrs. Ted Jackson, Knox, North Dakota, Mrs. Carl Miller, Osceola; Mrs. Grant Oliver, Chicago, Ill; Mrs. Al Barker, Chicago, Ill.
Also three sisters, Mrs. E.R. Saddoris of Osceola, Mrs. Martha Benbow of Osceola, and Miss Mary Rushing of Osceola, one brother, Jess Rushing of California, thirty-five grandchildren besides a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the M.P. Church by the Rev. B.E. Williamson, Sunday at 2:30. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
