PAYNE, KATHERINE I. On April 8, 2014 Katherine Payne, age 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Raised in the Brooklyn Area, she was the middle of three children of the late James Preston and Marie Graves. She is predeceased by her husband Harry E. Payne, Jr. of 31 years and two sisters, Marie Eader and Ruth Farrow. She was a loving mother to her children Harry Payne and wife Vanessa, James Payne and wife Dorothy, Marie Sachs and husband Ray and the late Roger James Payne. Katherine was blessed with grandchildren, James R. Jr., Shawn R., and Cassandra Payne; great grandchildren, and numerous other family members, especially "BlueEyes" along with her extra special care giving friends, Betty Eline and Linda Holler. Katherine was a member of Brooklyn Park U.B. Church and loved her "little church on the hill". She enjoyed her many trips to Ocean City, and spending time down the shore on the Magothy. She was a huge fan of Elvis Presley with a large collection of memorabilia, and also enjoyed her Indian and Cal Ripkin collections. She worked many places throughout her lifetime. Her last place of employment was out at SSA at the EAA where everyone called her "Mom". She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. We will so miss you Mom rolling your eyes, your shoulders, your laughter, and smile. Thanks Mom for all the great unconditional love you gave everyone through the years. A memorial gathering will be held at Gonce Funeral Service P.A., 4001 Ritchie Hwy in Brooklyn on April 22, 2014 from 5:30 - 8:00pm, with a memorial service at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy, Annapolis, MD 21401. Visit Goncefuneralservice.com
