Accident Takes Life of Jim Dugan Wednesday -
A one-car accident last Wednesday night claimed the life of Jim Dugan, 51, of Greeley. The accident occurred at the highways 56 and 281 junction south of Greeley. Mr. Dugan died several hours later at a hospital from the injuries.
James H. Dugan was born Mar. 11, 1921 on a farm east of Greeley, the son of Edward and Frances (Dolan) Dugan.
He was reared in the area and attended Sacred Heart Academy at O'Connor where he graduated with the class of 1939. He then worked in Portland, Ore., and Chicago. He returned to farming at Greeley in 1941.
On July 24, 1944 at Sacred Heart Church in Greeley he married the former Rose Mary Smith. They lived on a farm east of Greeley for 13 years then moved to their present farm south of Greeley.
He was president of the Greeley Builders Association, president of the Smith-Dugan Corp, a member of the Knights of Columbus and held dealerships for the Heinzman Engineering Co. of Grand Island as well as Dakon Industries.
He is survived by seven sons, Joe of Greeley, Bob of Omaha, and Larry, Gerald, Mark, Martie and Denny all at home, five daughters, Mrs. Jeannie Peterson of Omaha and Rose Marie, Diane, Donna and Pam all at home; six brothers, Edward, Raymond and Bill all of Greeley, Gerald of Chicago and Jack of Lima, Ohio and Richard of Omaha; three sisters, Frances of Ohio, Mary of Omaha and Dorothy Cameron of Grand Island and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, his parents and two brothers.
