The person often mentioned as Spurgeon Faulk, of Columbus County, NC, is in reality and legally Stephen E. Faulk, according to census records, or Stephen Carrie Faulk, according to his death certificate. His tombstone reads Rev. S. E. Faulk.
I have found no legal document listing a Spurgeon Faulk, nor has anyone accepted my challenge to disprove these legal documents. This informtion has been shared before with other genealogists.
I married his greatgranddaughter, Nancy Louise Faulk. The above statements are based on proven documents.
