GLACE BAY - Sandford J. Peach, 84, retired mine worker died at the General Hospital Monday. Mr. Peach had enjoyed good health until a few days ago and he entered hospital. Death was unexpected by family and friends.
A native of Port Morien Mr. Peach lived at 23 Douglas Ave. since 1945. For years he worked in the Birch Grove Colliery then transferred to No. 24 here. He worked in that mine until it was closed and he was placed on superannuation.
Mr. Peach was a Baptist and was an honorary deacon of that congregation. He was a member of Tyrian Youth Lodge A.F. and A.M.
He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Adelaide Murrant. Mr. Peach is survived by his second wife, sons, Harold, Sydney; Earl, Aylmer, Que; Stewart, Vancouver; daughters, (Nettie) Mrs. S.H. Sloan, (Jean) Mrs. Michael MacNeil, both of Providence, R.I.; (Evelyn) Mrs. John Dillon at home.
A brother Tom, Seattle and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Shepard, Port Morien and (Jennie) Mrs. Fred Lewis, Catherine street.
There are 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The remains are reposing at the family home, 23 Douglas Avenue. Burial will be made in the Homeville cemetery.
