William P. "Billy" Wallace, 92, died Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Born in Bennettsville, he was a son of the late Sen. Paul A. and Ethlen Gardner Wallace, Sr. and the widower of Martha Jean "Mot" Wallace.

He was a World War II, US Army Veteran. Mr. Wallace was a charter member of Wallace Baptist Church and attended the Fred Harris Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC. He was a past member of the Bennettsville Rotary Club. He had served on numerous boards and committees. Mr. Wallace served as a State Senator (1958), Marlboro County Supervisor (1961-1981) and Marlboro County Council (1990-2002).

Surviving are his sons William "Billy" (Carolyn) P. Wallace, Jr. of Cheraw, SC, Sidney (Margaret) E. Wallace of Wallace, SC, daughters, Jean (David) Wallace McLean of Wallace, SC, Ann (Don) Wallace Wilson of Calhoun, GA, a brother, Paul A. Wallace, Jr. of Cheraw, SC, six grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, also, a special friend, Christine Therrell.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents listed above, also, a brother, Thomas E. Wallace and a sister, Gladys Wallace Spears.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Wallace Baptist Church, Wallace, SC. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
