Lillie Harmon

Lillie Matt Fletcher Harmon was born in Kosciusko, MS to the late Robert and Florence Fletcher on August 5, 1923.

Lillie accepted Christ at an early age and was a life-long member of the New Garden Missionary Baptist Church in Attala County where she was a dedicated and faithful member. She served on the Mission and Homing committee (committee responsible for feeding the pastor).

Lillie was the last of twelve siblings. All twelve preceded her in death.

On February 2, 1946 she married the love of her life, Clarence Harmon. To this union nine children were born. Clarence and Lillie expressed the importance of getting an education in their home. One accomplishment that she and her husband were both proud of is that all nine children graduated from high school and all went on to pursue careers in various fields.

Lillie had many hobbies. She loved to cook, garden and quilt. She was especially fond of flowers and she loved to work in her flower beds. She was proud of the roses that bloomed every year. She also loved to read the Star Herald Newspaper to keep up with the events going on in Kosciusko. Lastly, she had a great appreciation for sports and even played basketball while in school. You could catch her on any given Sunday watching the games of various sports throughout the year.

Mrs. Lillie Matt Fletcher Harmon departed this life at 9:45 a.m., October 26, 2014.
