Ella McGee

To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under the heaven; a time to be born and a time to die...

Mother Ella B. Gregory McGee was born January 10, 1925 in Sallis, MS to the late Bertha and Earl Gregory. She was the fourth child of eight children. One sister, four brothers, four grandchildren and one son (Phillip "ToBo") preceded her in death.

She confessed her faith in Christ and joined the Mt. Calvary M.B. Church. She was a member of the Mother's Board and a faithful member until her health failed.

Mother Ella was educated and graduated in Holmes County, MS. She was united in Holy matrimony to the late Alonzo McGee and to this union they were the proud parents of nine children.

She worked in the field of Education in the Mississippi Delta. She later relocated to Chicago, IL and obtained employment with the Wesley Memorial Hospital. She united with the Friendship Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. After retiring, Mother Ella moved back to Durant, MS. She enjoyed raising pigs, gardening and fishing with her friends, Mrs. Ozena Tidwell and Mr. Carl Brown.
