Among those attending funeral services for Martin W. Abernathy were Mrs. C. H. Vaughn, Mrs. Homer Shotts, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Huff, Elmer and bill Dosher, and Mr. and Mrs. George Neugebauer. Abernathy's wife preceded him in death and was the sister or the late Mrs. R.M. Dosher and Mrs. Vaughn.
Abernathy, 88, was a retired mail carried and died at this home in Altus on Saturday. He was a native of Missouri but had lived in Jackson County since 1890. His wife died June 12, 1953.
Survivors:
Two daughters - Mrs. Bess Darwin and Miss Flora Abernathy both of Altus
Three sons - Carl of Altus, Lonnie of Oklahoma City, and Clarence of Sulphur.
Eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren
Sister: Mrs. Callie Williams of Muleshoe, Texas
Two brothers: C. O. of Altus and Dan Abernathy of Artesia, N.M.
