Norman A. Bostrom, 87, passed away on November 5, 2014 in Round Rock, Texas.
Norman was born on September 18, 1927 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to parents Alex G. and Elsie M. (Wiggin) Bostrom. He married the love of his life, Joan Nancy (Atkinson) Bostrom in Malden, Massachusetts in 1947. They were married for over 63 years; she preceded him in death on December 11, 2010. Norman selflessly served from 1945 to 1946 in the United States Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, Norman attended Suffolk University where he received his B.A. in Physics. He then moved to Austin in order to attend the University of Texas where he received his M.A. and Ph.D in Physics. Norman went on to establish multiple companies involved in the research and development of neutron generators and ion implantation. In 1975 he moved his family to Georgetown. He retired in 1984, after working in the field for over 28 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Georgetown Country Club and Balcones Country Club. Norman was a caring and compassionate person. He opened his home to both his father and wife's mother and supported them until their passing. He had a soft spot for animals, especially cats. He also loved fishing and boating.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lucille Bostrom.
To cherish his memory, Norman leaves behind his daughter, Nancy Bigler of Granger, Texas; sons: Alex Paul Bostrom and John Erik Bostrom both of Georgetown, Texas; nephew, James Johnson of Boulder, Colorado; granddaughter, Jennifer; and great granddaughter.
