Jeremiah A. Yates LUBBOCK-Jeremiah A. Yates, 84, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on Nov. 2, 2014. He was born on April 2, 1930, in Roxton, Texas, to the parentage of Mother Ann Yates and Horace Yates Sr. Jeremiah attended Roxton public schools. He gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was a carpenter for 25 years and also worked at Frito Lay for 30 years. He united in holy matrimony with Mable Williams Yates; to this union two sons were born, Jerry Yates Jr. and Kenneth Earl Yates. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Ann and Horance Yates; five sisters; five brothers; and one son, Jerry Yates. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 65 years, Mable Yates; one son, Kenneth E. Yates; one brother, Herbert Yates; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a brother-in-law, George Lewis (Rose); sister-in-law, Beulah McCalister of Roxton; two godsons, Jeremiah D. Ellis and Donovan Howard; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Agape Temple C.O.G.I.C. Interment will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held today from 3 to 5 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary.
