William Michael Keene, age 67, of Brunswick, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was a lifelong resident of Brunswick and graduated from Glynn Academy in 1966. After graduation he served as a Sgt. in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era from 1966 to 1970. Upon discharge, he began working as an industrial welder for the UA Local 177 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union for 38 years. While working, he served as an apprentice instructor and won the UA Instructor Award. Mike was a member of the NRA, Coastal Gun Club, Coastal Planes RC Club, SASS and Plum Orchard Hunting Club. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, scuba diving, boating, archery, wood working, model planes and cars (radio controlled) and was a gun enthusiast.

Mike was a member of College Place United Methodist Church and was described as a caring man who helped care for neighbors and friends in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, AV and Janice Keene, and a baby, Jeffry Michael Keene.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Brenda Blocker Keene; a son, Christian Michael Keene (Lori); a daughter, Melissa Keene-Weis (Ray); a grandson, Joshua Keene; a granddaughter, Jordan Keene and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at College Place United Methodist Church with Reverend Rob Grotheer officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Local 177 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, Dr. Kenyon Meadows and his nurse, Adrian, Dr. Duane Moores and Dr. H. Jones.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or College Place United Methodist Church.
